  10.     If you or your company/institution is looking to hire a software
  11.     engineer to do large-scale scientific computation, simulation
  12.     and visualizations, please send me a note about it. If you can 
  13.     pass my resume around, that would be even better. Although
  14.     scientific computation and visualization are preferred, I am
  15.     also interested in commercial software develpement in general.

  19. INSTALLATION
  20. ------------

  22.     Edit Makefile for destination directories and then type make. 
  23.     BIT should compile "out of the box" on machines running
  24.     IRIX 3.3 or later (may have a couple of harmless warnings on 5.x.x).
  25.     Since I have never actually compiled bit personally on any machines
  26.     running IRIX later than 3.3, your feedback on compilation problems
  27.     will be mostly appreciated. Note you need at least 7 Mbytes of hard disk to
  28.     make bit.

  30.     After making BIT, you might want to make djpeg/cjpeg if you do
  31.     not already have them. cd jpeg and make will give you djpeg/cjpeg,
  32.     which are very useful programs themselves.

  34.     In src/mpeg, type make sgimpeg to get the stand alone mpeg player,
  35.     which has pause and magnification features, also faster than
  36.     the original Berkeley X program mpeg_play.
  37.  
  38.     When reporting bugs, please identify bit version using bit -v.
  39.     Also hinv and ginv information.

  41.     If you would like to have Bit send me a brief message when it detects
  42.     segmentation faults or other critical errors, plase define
  43.     MAIL_AUTHOR in the Makefile.
